Coming out of the 2010 Fall season as the North Carolina State Champions over UNC Chapel Hill, the Wolfpack RFC is going to be starting up practices this week in preparation for the upcoming spring season.  The Wolfpack will be entertaining a very full season, with four non-league matches leading up to a bye-weekend before the newly formed ACRL begins.  The ACRL (Atlantic Coast Rugby League) will be made up of nine of the teams in the ACC Conference, with NC State playing against UNCCh, Wake Forest, UVA, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Maryland.

The team’s first match will be on Saturday, January 22nd on the lower IM fields vs. the UNCW Seahawks.  Looking to avenge a close, last-minute loss to the Seahawks last season, the Wolfpack is starting practice early and hard this week.

For all interested players, there will be a team meeting on Thursday, January 13th at 5:30 in room 2037 above the Club Sports Office at Carmichael Gym.  New players are encouraged to come as we will be covering topics concerning both new and old players.  From the meeting we will move into the gym as the IM fields have yet to be open due to the unfortunate weather.  A practice will also be held Sunday, January 16th on Lee Field behind Lee Hall at 2:00.  This will be the team’s first outdoor practice of the season at a much needed time as the NCSURFC has only a week to prepare for its first match.

For interested players, please feel free to contact the Club President, Bryan Maxwell (704 819 0460, bmmaxwel@ncsu.edu) or Team Captain, Matt Pace (828-883-7514, jmpace@ncsu.edu)
